About Me

Hi! I am Sabine and I am blogging about my adventures (good or bad) as a single mom of  two adult children and a teen in Nashville. After living in Los Angeles for over 20 years, I packed my few belongings, grabbed the kids and dog and moved to Music City. Country music, here we come! So, who am I?

I am a mom to:aboutmelodycollage2015

FamilypicEdit2014I am a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and an ex-wife. I love books, my dogs, cooking “real” food, my daughter’s heartfelt music, DIY, thrift stores, country music, baking birthday cakes, my son’s innocence, my daughter’s endless enthusiasm, and the simple things in life.

I love to breathe new life into old, discarded things. I believe in recycling and reusing as much as possible… it’s my way of living.

When I am not working,  I enjoy doing rehab on the fixer-upper I recently purchased. This could mean gutting the bathroom, refinishing hardwood floors, painting the exterior of the house, fixing my oven, staining the deck, and whatever else falls in my lap. The work never ends and I am loving (almost) every minute of it.

It’s not always easy as a single mom, but I am determined to transform this house into a beautiful home for my family.

My days aren’t all DIY and work. I also share snippets about Nashville, travel, food and beauty.

Welcome to my blog!

    1. Hi Trish. For some reason I didn’t see your comment until today. So sorry for the late reply and thank you for the kind words and for stopping by.

  1. Hi Sabine, WELCOME to Tennessee. I live in Elizabethton, TN. Also, been through divorce….rough. Just came across your site. You have a beautiful family and cute little doggies. Hope you like living in TN…..many beautiful places to see!

    1. Hi Terri. Thank you so much for commenting on my site… it truly makes my day. Sorry to hear about your divorce… it can be really tough. We love Nashville, especially in the fall. Have a great day!

  2. My husband and I discovered Nashville when my son was stationed at Fort Campbell. I felt that I could never leave that town… Street musicians, sight seeing, wonderful people, and ” Antique Archeology”, great shopping, the Grand Old Opery tour, and so on, and so on! We’ve been three times, once with our grandson, who loved the history of the battlegrounds of the South. I wish We could go back every year,!

    1. Marilyn, that’s how I feel about Nashville, too. It’s a great city with great people. Thanks for taking the time to comment and I hope you get to visit Nashville again.

  3. Hey Sabine,
I am definitely going to try building the island; so glad I found your post! I have only known one other Sabine in my life. She was a graphic designer and we worked together for a while in Atlanta. I am also a divorcee with three kids who just bought a fixer-upper. Talk about parallels! Best to you!

    1. So nice of you to say ‘hi’ and so nice to meet another adventurous (crazy haha) single mom who’s not afraid of a fixer upper. You got this, girl! 🙂
