granola apple crisp

This crisp is supposed to be the answer to my beloved apple strudel, which  I could eat at any given time. My grandmother used to make the most delicious apple strudel. I remember watching her peel apples with a small knife, leaving one long ribbon of apple skin. There’s something very comforting about eating warm apple and cinnamon anything; especially during the holiday season.

As much as I love apple strudel, I don’t like making it. It takes time and skill. It’s not something you put together in minutes.granola apple crisp

This granola apple crisp, on the other hand, can be prepared in no time while giving me the flavors of an apple strudel.  In my opinion,  baked fruit crisps aren’t just dessert food, and if you’re only having them after dinner, you’re missing out. The trick is to dial back the sugar a bit, keep the topping as crunchy as possible and eat it first thing in the morning, with a generous helping of your favorite yogurt on top. After dinner, I like the crisp topped with whipped cream.

A few days ago, one of my college girls made it home for the holidays. She worked so hard for her finals so I decided to make this crisp for us to enjoy by the Christmas tree. We talked, laughed and ate together –  the best kind of moments. We may or may not have finished the entire dish!?!

For this simple apple crisp recipe I used Quaker® Simply Granola Oats, Honey & Almonds. Seriously, the most time-consuming part was preparing the apples.  Quaker® Simply Granola has 34 grams of whole grains and very low sodium, and makes the topping crunchy and super tasty.

Making this apple crisp was so easy with Quaker® Simply Granola. It’s tasty and filling with hearty, satisfying crunchy granola clusters.  My local Walmart carries a variety of Quaker® Simply Granola products. Some include real fruit like apples, cranberries and raisins.

Make this, and eat it for breakfast this week. It’s perfect on a cold winter morning.
