Flashback to March 2014. I stained the kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanity with General Finishes Java Gel Stain.
15 months later:
Looks good, right? Keep in mind, this is our only bathroom in the house. It gets lot of traffic. This stain and poly are amazing. And I wasn’t paid to say that. It’s just a really good product. Here I am during the move in/staining process. Crazy times, to say the least.
I don’t have any other ‘before’ pictures of the kitchen, but I really didn’t care for the oak.
This is the kitchen today. Originally, I planned to paint the oak cabinets white. After researching the heck out of it, I decided to go with the dark stain instead. I was afraid the painted cabinets would get scratched and dinged quickly. The stain is holding up really well. I really can’t see any scratches or chips and I cook in this kitchen every day. I also have three kids and two dogs. The cabinets look as good as the day I finished.
This is a very budget friendly face lift. I only spent around $50 on stain and poly. I had enough to do the kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity and bathroom mirror. I highly recommend this product. Once again, I am not getting compensated in any way to say this.
If you’re interested to learn about my vinyl tile experience (another great product) , I did an update post on this as well. You can read it HERE.
I’ll let you know how things are holding up a year from now. Make sure to check back!
