Hi everybody. Are you enjoying spring as much as I am? Hard to believe it’s already April. The kids will be out of school before we know it.
It wasn’t that long ago that many of us made New Year’s resolutions. My goals for 2016 have been all about staying positive, healthy, and active. So far so good. I do feel invigorated and energized.
Hopefully you are embracing some of my workout techniques that I shared in my earlier posts and they are working for you. I know I’ve been doing them. My cardio is outside and weight lifting inside… and I’m feeling really good.
Today I want to show you a couple of new things I’ve added to my routine.
1. Arm Toning Workout
Arm toning is nothing new for me…. been doing it for years. What’s new is, rather than focusing on the number of repetitions, I focus on time. There is no number of repetitions that I need to reach. Instead, I allow myself one minute for each workout and try to get in as many repetitions as I can.
I also incorporate lunges with weight training. This way I work both upper and lower body. Lunges work your glutes, quadriceps, abdominals and hip abductors. Trust me, you’ll feel the burn!
Side lunges help me strengthen my back.
For my one-arm row I double my weights. It’s good to push yourself once in a while.
What I like about these exercises is that I don’t have to depend on gym equipment. I can do them at home and take the weights with me anywhere I go.
2. Vitamins
I truly believe that the best way to get the nutrients we need is through food. A balanced diet — one containing plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains — offers a mix of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that meet the body’s needs. However, sometimes us moms put our own needs on the back burner or not eat as well as we should, and then we end up feeling tired and worn out because of it. Vitamins and supplements help fill in those nutritional gaps we may be missing out on.
Most of us know that vitamin C supports the immune system, but it’s also essential for the production of collagen, which gives skin its tone and structure.
When I was at Walmart getting my new pink 5 pound weights, I picked up two bottles of Nature Made vitamins. Walmart has a large selection of Nature Made vitamins, minerals and supplements at a low price. There’s no need to wait for a sale.
