Today, I decided to cut my hair. As much as I love routines and consistency, I was ready for a change. After watching numerous tutorials on DIY haircuts, I decided to go with a lob ( a long bob). It’s neither short nor long… just what I wanted.
One last “before” selfie before I did the cut.
YouTube has some great tutorials on how to cut your own hair.
I took off nearly eight inches.
Next, I added a few long layers.
I haven’t had hair this short since I was in my twenties. I think this hair cut is modern and fun yet still classy. I can still curl my hair or put it in a bun or pony tail. I guess it’s a good thing to step out of your comfort zone once in a while. Anyway, I am very happy with my new cut.
You did a great job! I think it looks updated and you look younger, which to me is always a plus! You really look beautiful, and I’m not just saying that either. I’m impressed.
Aww… thanks, Sally for the sweet comment. I really appreciate it! It’s really not that hard to cut your own hair. It sure saved me money and time, and I am happy with the end result. 🙂
DIY haircuts are a great idea. I do S&D on my split ends but leave the bimonthly trims to my guy to get the splits I can’t get as well as keep the ends neatly trimmed. I save hundreds over the salon and I always get my hair cut as I want versus what the stylist wants.
Yes it does grow continuously. But it always seemed to take forever to grow after I had gotten it cut too short by a scissor happy stylist who would say it’s just hair, it will grow back and then expect a tip on top of the $50 they charge for a haircut. I do stress too much on how it looks at times, but I know women that spend over $200 to get their hair cut and colored at one salon visit, and frankly I could not afford that in my budget and I wouldn’t even if I could. So yes it is just hair, but it is my hair on my head, it is very personal to me and that is why I only let my guy trim my hair. He listens to me and he won’t get scissor happy as he loves my hair long nearly as much as I do. And I really like getting my hair cut for free.

September 16, 2015Hi Cheryl. I totally agree with you. You can save lots of money and time doing it yourself. The way I see it, it’s only hair. It keeps growing back.:)
