Clean Your House Exterior Without a Pressure Washer

Is your house ready for a wash? Mine sure was, especially after the harsh winter Nashville had to endure. And since I am getting the house ready for new exterior paint, I had to first give it a good scrub.

I don’t have a pressure washer and I don’t have a “real” ladder. All I have is a wobbly 4ft. wooden ladder, which is great for changing a light bulb, but certainly not for anything that involves water. So I was really happy when the nice folks at Rust-Oleum sent over two boxes of Krud Kutter and Krud Kutter House Wash. With these great products, I didn’t need a ladder or pressure washer.

I started with the Krud Kutter Cleaner/Degreaser. Here’s what I did. This is the area next to my front door.I sprayed the cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes. It pulls out the grime and forms little brown puddles.Next, I scrubbed a little, but the grime just comes off. I finished it by rinsing everything off. Much better, don’t you think?

Here are few other things I scrubbed clean.My deck needed some serious TLC. Krud Kutter got  right through the green yuck.My drive way used to have this nasty oil stain. Krud Kutter cleaned it up.

Next I tried the Krud Kutter House Wash. I attached the hose to the bottle. Once the house was saturated, I turned the nozzle to “CLEAN” and started washing the house. After the foamy stuff set for 5 minutes or so, I turned the nozzle to “RINSE.”

I am not even sure what this was, but  after a good rain, I sometimes end up with this reddish stuff. I think it comes from the reddish bricks.  The Krud Kutter House Wash cleaner did a great job removing it. The product contains no bleach or ammonia.

I was very impressed with both cleaners. I didn’t need to buy or rent a pressure washer and the house is now ready for new paint.
