One of my favorite things to do is to find old and grungy items and transform them into beautiful and useful pieces. I found this frame on the side of the road.
Since it was missing the glass, I decided to use chicken wire to create a bulletin board.
I removed the chicken wire from our dog park which was left behind by the previous owner. Chicken wire isn’t easy to work with, but I knew I would have some use for it, eventually.
I lightly sanded and then primed the frame. I gave it two coats of paint and then distressed it a little bit to get the “aged” look.
A few staples hold the chicken wire in place.
With a little imagination you can see potential in a lot of old things that would otherwise just end up in the landfills.
My daughter wants to use it as a bulletin board in her first college apartment, but it’s also great for jewelry display.
I love-love-love this idea. I’m adding this to my looooong lists of “someday” projects. I can see this sitting on my desk, right at eye level with a few inspirational quotes and snapshots to motivate me throughout the day. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for the sweet comment. The project was a lot of fun and I was happy to reuse a bunch of old stuff and create something useful and pretty. Have fun making it!
Great project, Sabine! I love chicken wire and what a fun way to bring it inside.
