After four months, my house is still a work-in-progress and probably will be – indefinitely. Most projects aren’t extremely difficult, but they are time consuming – they would be costly if I didn’t do them myself. After all, labor is the most expensive part of any renovation.
As I do with many of my projects, I want to share my experience with the product I used for my hardwood floor repair.
After some water damage experienced by the previous owner, I wanted to replace only the section of the hardwood floor that was damaged (about 17 ft).
First, I had to replace the subfloor since the width was an issue. The sales person at Lowe’s told me that a 7/16 in OSB Sheathing (which is 50% cheaper than plywood) would work just fine.
I also purchased a bundle of red oak 1.5 in hardwood flooring from Jeffco Flooring & Supply in Nashville. If you have hardwood flooring needs, look no further. Jeffco Flooring & Supply has hundreds of thousands of square feet of unfinished and pre-finished flooring.
My hardwood floor is original to the house and most companies don’t even sell this type of hardwood anymore. Luckily, Jeffco still carries the type I needed. I purchased a bundle of red oak and Terry, the sales rep, gave me a special contractor’s deal which saved me approx. $15.
The staff at Jeffco is friendly, knowledgeable, and they really value their customers.
After getting some help with patching up the damaged floor, I realized I was short just a few planks.
I didn’t want to purchase another bundle ($89), so Terry said I could get some from their scrap pile. The pieces he gave me were perfectly fine and free of charge.
They could have easily told me to buy another bundle (which I did not have the budget for) but instead they helped me out and their kind gesture truly made my day. To me, that says a lot about a company.
Jeffco was founded by Jeff C. Johnson who has over 26 years of experience in the hardwood flooring industry.
I appreciate a company that provides great products and great customer service. Jeffco truly identifies their customers’ needs and assists them in the best possible way.
Note: I was not compensated to provide this opinion. I simply wanted to recognize a knowledgeable and courteous team of people.
Hardwood Floor Refinishing Seattle - bathroom remodel
November 18, 2018My carpet in the living room has a ton of stains that just won’t go away, so my wife and I have been thinking of getting it replaced with a hardwood flooring. Considering we don’t have a lot of time to do it on our own, I think we’ll look into working with a floor installation company. Jenny
