Each time the front door knob hit this wall, this hole got a little bigger. Not exactly pretty to look at, so I decided to patch it up. Luckily, drywall damage can be fixed easily with minimal equipment.
Self adhesive mesh
Step #1: Place a small piece of mesh over the hole.
Step #2: With the drywall knife cover the patch with compound, using a crisscross pattern.
Step #3: Sand smooth.
Step #4: Paint
To prevent further drywall damage, I installed a door stop.
My nephew recently tossed a baseball into my living room wall, and it left a big hole. I need to get it patched soon. So, I liked that you pointed out that I will need to use a crisscross motion when applying the plaster. I am not sure if I would be any good at patching the hole myself. It might be best for me to hire a professional to fix it for me.
