Inexpensive Closet Upgrade

My bedroom closet is tiny. Even though I don’t have a ton of clothes, I still wanted a more functional and efficient closet.

Something like this. But closet systems are expensive. Like this one from Lowe’s: almost $400.

At first, I planned on building something similar, but since lumber prices are through the roof, I decided to use what I already had in my garage.

I found this old bookshelf and some drawers.

This stuff is very old and I used it for storing various things in the garage. The cabinet was the perfect size, but the shelf was too wide and too long.

I took it apart and cut to size.

I also removed and cut the existing closet rod. I wanted to reuse as much as I could. Later on, I decided to spray paint the rod with matte black paint.

The shelf has a nice, snug fit. I added three Dollar Tree mini baskets.

I learned how to fold Marie Kondo style.

I’m very pleased with how my closet upgrade turned out and it didn’t take long at all. I’m happy I was able to reuse old items and turn them into something useful.

If you want to upgrade your closet without spending hundreds of dollars, turn to Craigslist or Facebook Market place for used shelves and cabinets. A lot of items are cheap, many are even free.

As always, thank you for reading here. You’re much appreciated.

This closet upgrade looks so well done. I thought a professional closet organizer did the job!

Thank you, Tony. It was a fairly easy project.
