Lavender was one of my grandma’s favorite herbs. She had lavender in her garden and her whole house smelled incredible. She surrounded herself with the scent of lavender right before bedtime. It’s a scent I will never forget.

The other day when I was doing laundry, I used Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ in Lavender. The pearls are in-wash scent boosters and offer 5x longer-lasting fragrance. The incredible scent brought back memories of my childhood.

You can add the little pearls straight to the wash with your laundry detergent or fabric softener.

Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ come in two fragrances, Field Flowers and Lavender. I can’t believe how amazing my laundry smells. My entire closet now smells like lavender, even days later. I love it.

I bought the Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ at my local Walmart. The product is easy to find with the fabric softeners in the laundry cleaner aisle.

The lavender smell inspired me to work on a craft I hadn’t done since I was very young.  My grandma used to transfer images to fabric with lavender oil. Back then she simply took an image or text from a newspaper and transferred it to fabric, which she then turned into flour and grain sacks for her pantry. I still remember how fascinated I was by this process and always thought my grandma was the most creative person in the world.

I will show you how she did it.

Lavender Oil Image and Text  Transfer

You’ll need:

100% pure Lavender Oil ( other oils such as Peppermint, Eucalyptus, and olive oil didn’t work when I tried)

Fabric

Spoon or wooden spoon

Scotch tape or masking tape

Newspaper

Flat Surface

Iron

Image or text printed from a Laser Printer ( Ink Printer WILL NOT work for this. If you don’t have a Laser printer, go to Staples or Office Max. They can make a copy for you on their Laser printer).

I found my images on TheGraphicsFairy.com. There are hundreds to choose from. Keep in mind you will need a mirror image of the text. The Graphics Fairy has many mirror image versions in PDF on her website.

lavender3

Place your copy face down on your fabric and secure it with tape. Lay some cardboard under your fabric. Make sure your fabric lies on a flat surface.

Apply Lavender Oil with a paintbrush and spread it over the paper. I used my finger to do this.

Use the back of a spoon or wooden spoon to transfer the design. Make sure to press hard. This should take about 3 minutes or so. When you’re done, remove the paper and wait for fabric to dry. The smell and oil stain will disappear.

Once it dries, iron the design. This will seal the design and make it washable.

I turned my fabric into grain sacks.

I think my grandma would love them.

I love that my clothes and house smell like lavender. Even my tween boy said he loves how his comforter smells. Lavender is an incredible scent.

If you want to smell Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ you can sample them in store. Trust me, you and your family will love the scent.

I have looked and searched and have used 2 other techniques both of which didn’t work, and then I came across your tutorial. Once I get home, I’m going to try your technique with some lavender oil I have at home. I can’t wait. If this works, I will post pictures. Thank you for sharing!!

This is great! Do you know if image is long lasting through washing the fabric?
