Something about this phrase never made sense to me. Life does hand each of us lemons sometimes, but I don’t think we should just simply accept it, sugar-coat it, water it down and drink it up. Do we really need to accept every setback and simply turn it into something that we can tolerate? Just sometimes , can’t we go around the obstacle instead of accept it?
I truly believe that everything in life happens for a reason, but it’s still hard for me when my careful plans are knocked down by an outside force. Sometimes life is pretty crappy and we find no meaning in misery. Some people deal with it by listening to music and drinking; I go outside and build something out of scrap wood. I have made some of my best pieces this way.
The weird thing about life is that through these crappy moments new opportunities surface that we would otherwise never encounter. So, go ahead and embrace the little moments in life, now!Bottom line, when life sucks, let it suck for a minute. Acknowledge the hard times for what they are and then begin your clean start. View obstacles as creative challenges and re-plot your path.
One thing I always tell my kids: Wherever it is you want to be, you’ll get there, eventually.
