Today is Labor Day and as usual, there is a lot of laboring going on in my house. Not much resting at all… and the lawn is still waiting for me. But I did get a lot done today, including painting the garage and fixing up this mirror. Hope you all had a nice day off.
A couple months back I was at ReStore where I bought this mirror for next to nothing (I think it was $5 since everything was 30% off that day).My daughter used it as her make-up mirror until she started college a few weeks ago. Well, I wanted a mirror in my living room so I ‘played around’ with this one and now it’s hanging on the wall.
I removed the top part, sanded and painted it. Then I sanded again but I wasn’t happy with the ‘cut-outs’ on each side. They were too perfect. My solution: I cut a few pieces of wood chips from an old piece of fence wood. The wood chips are not perfect and that’s why I like them. Now, the mirror has character!

September 1, 2014I like this so much better than the original! I would have never thought to change the shape of the top like that.
