Reflections on Moving

There is something so poignant about the aftermath of a move — the empty apartment that used to be your home is now an echo-filled void. For the person looking to move in the space is full of potential but for the outgoing resident, it is the end of a chapter, a slice of life that can never again be recreated. The apartment above is, or rather was, ours, and I am a little sad to say goodbye to my home of the last 1.5 years. The place was good to us. I still have fond memories of our first night where we had to sleep on the floor and only used a couple of towels as blankets (all of our stuff was still on the way from Los Angeles to Nashville).

But the sadness of leaving one home is offset by the excitement of planning for the new one.

So as we backed down the driveway of our old apartment for the last time, I reminded myself and the kids that “The end of one chapter is the beginning of the next”…
