Replacing An Over-The-Range Microwave With A Ductless Range Hood

Several months ago, I decided to remove the old over-the-range microwave for three reasons. One, the microwave had issues. A few buttons no longer worked. Two, the microwave was too big (for me) and too close to the stove. Three, I rarely use a microwave.
I went ahead a purchased a ductless range hood at Home Depot. I wanted a simple and sleek design. The Broan-NuTone RL6200 met my needs. It was around $85 when I bought it.
After watching a few microwave removal videos on YouTube, I took the old thing out. It’s really just a couple of big screws that hold this giant thing in place.
The range hood is light and the install was easy. I was able to do it myself.
It fit like a glove. The 2-speed fan and light work great and the filter is easy to replace.
For someone who cooks daily, this vent really helps clear the cooking grease and odors.
Since then, I also installed a new countertop and backsplash. As for the microwave, I bought a small one on FB Marketplace for just $15 and placed it inside my pantry cabinet. All is good.
