The Milka chocolate was tantalizingly on display at the store. Stacks and bins (sometimes pallets) of it heaped up for all to drool over…every variety and flavor combination you can think of.

Living in Germany, many years ago, prepared me for the onslaught of chocolate bars displayed in the supermarket. Milka is the most popular chocolate in Germany. Everyone knows the purple cow on the Milka packaging.

I absolutely love Milka chocolate. It’s the first chocolate I ever tasted. Milka is heavenly.  It’s like symphony to my taste buds, so sweet and so fulfilling. During the cold German winters, my mom and I often drank Jasmine tea and ate our favorite Milka bars. We knitted sweaters, talked and snacked. That was before the internet and texting. Good times for sure.

At 18, I moved to the U.S. For years my mom would sent over packages full of Milka bars. Getting that package felt like Christmas every single time. I remember I would carefully save the Milka chocolate bars for a long time, because I did not want the amazing experience of eating the bars come to an end.

Last week, I had my first bite of the new Milka OREO bar. It’s so delicious. Seriously, you need to try this combo. The rich, creamy, smooth taste brought back memories of my time in Germany. I started looking for old photographs. I found photos of my mom, grandma, sister, and other relatives. To this day I can’t figure it out how my sister always knew where our mom kept the Milka stash. 

The OREO and Milka chocolate compliment each other well. OREO cookie pieces mixed in rich vanilla creme and coated in Milka. Amazing and delicious!

At night, I light a candle, grab a book and blanket, make tea and nibble on Milka . I have no problems eating the entire bar myself. Probably the best time of the day.
