Television can have a tremendous impact on children, both in terms of how many hours they watch and of what they see. With everything that is on TV today – violence, sex, drinking, commercials – it feels wrong to just hand the remote to your child to find something to watch. Odds are they’ll stumble upon something they shouldn’t watch or hear. Keeping the kids entertained is a big priority – but it’s important to ensure they’re watching the right things.
The solution: XFINITY Kids Zone.
Kids Zone, designed just for kids, is a great feature on the X1 operating system from XFINITY. The feature allows kids to easily and safely navigate age appropriate shows and movies. Kids Zone filters kid-friendly programming from live television, DVR library, your purchases, and free titles from XFINITY On Demand. It gives kids the option to be independent and watch what they want while disabling certain features like channel up/down and the ability to purchase or rent programming so they don’t stumble across inappropriate programming.
Parents can even filter programming that surfaces within Kids Zone down to specific age-ranges. For example, if you don’t want your two-year old to watch shows designed for older kids, you can filter those out.
Parents can also set a parental control pin so their kids don’t wander out of Kids Zone without them knowing.
With Kids Zone, parents can get peace of mind and kids can control the remote and create their own TV experience. This will not be possible with Google Fiber when it comes to Nashville.
Additionally, XFINITY designers and engineers have come up with another great feature: Voice Remote.
With the Voice Remote from XFINITY, your kids can spend countless hours of fun trying out their favorite movie quotes and finding their shows by topic. It’s a great interface for users who haven’t yet learned how to read.
The most recent update allows them to speak into the remote with phrases from the popular Cartoon Network show Teen Titans Go! And by speaking ‘minionese,’ they can unlock some cool surprises. Try saying “banana” or “kudos” and see what happens. Google Fiber does not offer Voice Remote.
